We operate a family theater business. Actually, Birch and I just patronize it, and the three little Joneses write, cast, block, rehearse, make tickets, organize seating, and perform. We (okay, they) do plays for all or no occassions. We have Christmas plays, Easter pageants, musicals, reenactments of movies, and open mike night. The first Jones play I can recall was in the hospital when Holt was born. He didn't bring much to that performance. Since then, he and Mouse have been roped into their older sister's creative imaginings. Just ask Gramma and Big. We've held several off-site productions on their stage.
For this year's production, Juliana brought inspiration from the Nativity Ballet. Carolina was outfitted in a silk pink toga (don't you just picture Mary that way?) and Holt was very Chip and Dale's in his bare bellied flamboyant vest and pj bottoms.
This picture was taken just before the song ended and Baby Jesus was flung into the wall. She had perhaps the technique but none of the spirit.
But, kidding aside, the ending of one of numbers included my three children bowing before the Baby that can and will save them from themselves. Not just any baby, but God Himself wrapped in a blanket and sent to us as a love letter to open. Merry Christmas, Baby Jesus. You came so little to save us from so much.
Ok, that last picture is priceless. So sweet!
ReplyDeleteKindof reminds me of the Mandrell sisters productions we used to put on. Man, I loved being Irlene.
Leigh Ann- Does THAT bring back memories! What would you pay for a video recording of one of our famous Mandrell productions? I remember that like it was yesterday.
