The buddies to hang with and the snacks rate at the top of his list of reasons for playing team sports. He probably talks Lego Star Wars with Sam during half time...maybe even on the court.
I love to watch him play. His best athletic skill is that he's a quick fella, a lot like his Daddy. I'm not one of those screaming moms. Always wished I was. I come, I watch, I take pictures, I get upset when kids aggressively foul him (and have conferences with coaches on court during the break), I bring snacks (when I'm told I'm on the schedule), but I don't yell. I can muster it during teeball when he's at bat because otherwise he'd be the only kid swinging in silence, but otherwise I'm pretty silent. It's the Reid in me, I guess. Hope that doesn't bother him. I've yet to ask.
And this year we went from tee ball straight into football and then headfirst into basketball. I don't know about him, but I'm ready for some time off.
The coach is ready for some time off as well.
