Your FIRST mission:
Drive to Evergreen Trailer Park where upon your arrival, you will clock in 10 minutes distributing free lunches for children in this community. After your ten minutes are up (kept track by your driver), you will receive your next clue from Debbie Huff who is in charge of this event.
Your SECOND mission:
You must now drive to First Baptist Church Emerson. Pull into the back gravel parking lot and ring the doorbell. The secretary, April, will let you in. Proceed to the sanctuary. PLEASE remember you are in a CHURCH and act accordingly! Find and enter the sanctuary. Your next clue will be located in ONE of the many hymnals located here. Happy Hunting!
Your THIRD mission:
You must now drive to the Hair Cottage located at 115 S. Dixie Avenue. When you enter the salon, one of you will be painting the nails of the other. You must also not speak above a WHISPER. For each infraction, you will receive a 5 minute penalty.
Upon sitting at the nail table, two of you must neatly get your nails painted by the third. If nail polish is already on, it must first be removed. After you have shown your manicure to JOY and she finds it acceptable, you will receive your next clue from her.
Your FOURTH mission:
You must now drive to Suntrust Bank located at 515 E. Main Street. Upon arriving, ask for Lindsay or Angel. You will be given a stash of quarters. You must correctly count out $10.00, show the correct change to your driver, and then roll it into a quarter holder.
You must then exchange your roll of quarters to any available teller for $10 in cash and your next clue. You must hold on to your money or hand it to your driver for safe-keeping for a future leg of the race.
Your FIFTH mission contains a DETOUR! A Detour is when teams must choose between 2 activities.
Your team must now proceed to 84 Lumber located at 84 Ampacet Drive where you have a choice of 2 activities:
Count or Lift?
Choice #1: Count
Find the loose ½ inch washers and count them. Present the correct number to Kenny to receive your next clue.
Choice #2: Lift
Find Kenny who will show you how and accompany you on the forktruck as you lift up a bunk of lumber. Upon completion you will receive your clue from him.
This is the first mandatory pit stop for the race. Your time will be marked by your driver at the moment you receive your clue from Kenny. Teams must all wait here until all teams arrive. Teams will them leave at staggered times based upon their arrival.
Your SIXTH mission:
Proceed quickly to the Cartersville Library located at 429 W. Main Street.
Your clue is simply this: (title of random book team must find).
Your SEVENTH mission:
You will need the money you received at the bank for this leg of the race!
Quickly hightail it to the pool at Dellinger Park (100 Pine Grove Rd). Three laps the length (the longer side) of the pool must be crossed. Your team must decide if one of you will do all laps, or if each of you will do one. Decide which way you think your team will finish quicker! One of all of you needs to quickly change into your swimsuit and apply sunscreen.
The wall at either end must be touched and verified by your driver. If all members are swimming, the first team member must touch the side of the pool before the next one enters the water. Upon completion of this task, your DRIVER will provide you with your next clue.
Your EIGHTH mission:
This leg of the race contains a Roadblock!
A Roadblock is an activity which only ONE team member may complete. IF only one team member swam in the last challenge, the ANOTHER team member must complete this mission. Otherwise, choose between yourselves!
It is now only a short jump away to your next leg of the race! Proceed down the hill towards the track at Dellinger park.
The team member who is completing this challenge must complete one lap around the track. That person may either walk the track heel to toe (ask your driver to explain if you don’t understand!) or backwards. Upon completion, your driver has your next clue!
Your NINTH mission:
Care for a snack? You will now make your way back to the Jones House.
Upon arriving you will prepare this snack (all ingredients will be on counter unless noted):
Orange Julius
6 oz frozen orange juice concentrate (in the freezer)
1 c milk
1 c water
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
10-12 ice cubes
Put all ingredients into the blender EXCEPT for the ice cubes. Blend 1-2 minutes adding ice cubes one at a time. Pour into one of the plastic cups provided to you almost to the top.
You must RINSE OUT(carefully!) the blender for the next team! Next, all of the Orange Julius must be polished off. One or all of you may drink this quick snack. After finishing ALL of it, your driver will note your time. This will be the second and final mandatory pit stop before the finish line. You will now wait until all teams have arrived. You will receive your next clue in staggered times (as before) and hurry on your way. The next pit stop after the final legs of the race is the FINISH LINE!
Your TENTH mission:
How well can you balance??
Your team will now take 2 glasses and 1 plate from the table in the sunroom. You must fill both glasses no less than 1 inch from the top (to the approval of your driver). The glasses of water are to be carried by one team member to the front porch. The plate is to be carried by another person. On the front porch, you must set both glasses of water onto the plate, and then TWO of you must carry this tray (each of you will have one hand supporting it) to our next door neighbors’ house. One will navigate. If you are facing the street, they are to your RIGHT. If you spill ANY water from either glass, you must start over.
When you’ve successfully reached their door, ring the bell and they will hand you your next clue.
Your ELEVENTH mission:
Proceed to the backyard.
You will find a beanbag toss game. Note the markings of where you are to stand. You must EACH land a beanbag into the hole before receiving your next clue from your driver.
Your TWELFTH mission:
How’s your memory?
Return to the house. Enter the school room. There will be three sets of papers paperclipped together. Take one. Undo the paperclip and scatter the papers on the ground in order to see them.
On each paper is an activity we have performed already today. Put these papers in order of the activities as we did them. When you get all the papers in the correct order, you will receive your next clue from your driver!
Your THIRTEENTH mission!
Return to your cars!
Promptly make your way to the Booth Museum (501 Museum Drive).
You need to find the painting titled Mr. Impressive.
When you find it and show your driver, you will receive your next clue.
Make your way to the FINISH LINE!
Go to the yellow house at the very end of our street.
You have successfully completed all legs of the race and the first team to arrive will be the winners of the Amazing Race and will receive a Target gift cards!
GO GO GO GO!!!
Although Team One led all day long, in the end they were edged out by Team Two. But I think it's fair to say, an amazing race was had by all!
