Easter pictures! I love the other half of my family's idea to do all of this on Saturday night prior to Easter morning. I'm instituting this new holiday policy next year. It would alleviate not only Sunday morning pre-church stress (which is really the worst time to schedule controversy), but would also help with the issue of blinding sun. Both my littlest ones have very light-sensitive eyes, courtesy of their eye ailments. In these pictures, they never look quite happy, and in many you could see the watering. Why did I never think of doing this the night before? 11 Easters we've purposefully executed madness!
Juliana and I went shopping the day before and finally found a dress for her that we BOTH liked and shoes to match in the same store. What are the odds? The shoes, by the way, were selected from the women's department. When did that happen? She was thrilled, though. The selection is quadrupled from the children's section.
Holt required the presence of his new Bakugan for all picture taking. If you don't know what this is, you probably don't have a seven year old boy. He also requested pictures to be made beside his newest fort, a low-branched tree that is now filled with 2 x 4s and bricks.
A few hours after these pictures were taken, he turned to me during the invitation and said, "Is this the part where people walk down the aisle?" I told him it was and he started to push past me. I bent down and whispered, "Do you want me to go with you?" He shook his head "no", and kept going, a boy with a mission. I watched Birch as he realized his son was coming towards him, and saw his entire face crumble as he struggled to not openly weep. What a priceless Easter treasure- to watch your son become your brother. Thank you, Jesus, for this mother's gift.
And finally, there's Mouse. Mom, I know she really needed a slip. I didn't realize this until I saw her out in the sun, but I really should've seen it beforehand. This is my public letter of apology. Please don't feel the need to point it out. I promise there are much worse pictures I could have posted online than this one. I'll save them for her rehearsal dinner someday.
And thanks to the aforementioned Mom, I bought myself a dress (and shoes!) for Easter this year. I am inappropriately in love with my new shoes, so much so that Juliana jokingly got a closeup of them).

And after lunch, thanks to John and Lora and the Christmas gift card to Longhorn (Gee, my whole day seemed to be turn keyed by my family!), we had our annual backyard hunt (minus John! Unacceptable!)
And not to leave anyone out, Holt ended his looting with a moment with Wal-tah (as Mouse would say). He was only mildly impressed.
Beautiful Juliana and Carolina. Beautiful walk that Holt took. What a glorious day!
