The hottest part of our staycation was our visit to the Etowah Indian Mounds. A really great baseball player could throw a rock and hit the mounds from our backyard. We have lived here almost two years and have just now gone to walk through this very historic site. Carolina was not at all impressed with any part of this landmark and whined throughout most of it, and then escalated to full-on tears before it was over. It was very interesting to see all the Indian artifacts and to compare the model of the village to what is still left standing. We all five climbed to the top of the burial mound, and Holt and Birch scaled the tallest mound, what was once the home of the village chief.
